This oil sketch captures a quiet moment at So Marrakech, a hidden gem tucked on the corner opposite Altrincham Market. A woman sits alone, lost in thought, as golden evening light spills across the scene. The café glows with warmth - fairy lights strung overhead, soft reflections in the glass canopy above alty market. I wanted to capture the sense of light and the gentle hum of people just out of reach.

Painted from memory, sketches, and photo reference taken on location, this piece came together back in the studio in one session using oil and impasto for expressive brushwork.

It’s not just about the architecture or the people, but the feeling of being there: pausing with a pastry and tea, watching the world move quietly on the other side of the glass.
