Tai Shan Schierenberg on My Landscape Artist of the Year Submission

A Little Secret I’ve Been Keeping…

Back in June 2025, I received a phone call telling me I’d been selected from over 2,000 applicants to be a main pod contestant on the next series of Landscape Artist of the Year 2026.

Even now, typing that still feels a little unreal.

It turned out to be one of the most surreal, joyful — and quietly nerve-wracking — days of my painting life. What made it even more special was meeting the brilliant judges Tai-Shan Schierenberg, Kathleen Soriano, and Eva Langret, alongside the ever-charming Stephen Mangan.

A huge thank you also goes to the incredible production team, who created such a calm, supportive atmosphere throughout. It truly was a privilege to be part of.

The series has now aired, and in case you missed it, I wanted to share a special moment here.

In the clip below, judge Tai-Shan Schierenberg shares his thoughts on my submission painting — a piece that marked an important turning point in my artistic journey.

Since filming, my work has continued to evolve, but this painting remains a snapshot of that chapter — a moment of stepping outside my comfort zone and saying yes to the opportunity.

✨ The original painting and limited-edition prints are now available via my website at the bottom of this page.

THE STORY

This piece was painted from a photo taken during a long weekend at Du Lac et Du Parc Hotel, Lake Garda — a quiet, memorable moment in the grounds of the resort. It marked a shift in my practice, being my first true landscape after years of painting figures and portraits. I wanted to capture the stillness, warmth, and reflection of that scene — using a tall, narrow crop to evoke scale, space, and the colours bring to the life the dreamy heat of the day.

LIMITED EDITION PRINT RUN

Strictly limited to 25 prints per size. Once sold, no further prints will be made at that size.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

Each print is made to order with care. Please allow up to 6 working days for your piece to be prepared and posted. Thank you for your patience — it means a lot.

Free UK shipping is included in all orders.
