A Week in My Life as a Full-Time Artist Vblog
There’s something quite satisfying about looking back on a week like this one. Since going full-time as an artist, no two weeks ever seem to look the same — one minute I’m painting quietly in the studio, the next I’m setting up at a market, photographing new work, editing videos, replying to commission enquiries or somehow balancing all of it at once.
This latest vlog follows seven days of full-time artist life: working on my biggest commission of the year so far, creating a tiny sculptural artwork for Saul Hay Gallery’s 10 year anniversary exhibition, shooting new headshots, and juggling three market days across Manchester. It was one of those weeks that felt full and fun in every sense of the word.
One of the highlights was finally starting a large commission of Tokyo Tower for a collector who originally discovered my work at Campfield Market. There’s always something really special about that moment when a blank panel starts becoming a painting - especially when it’s a piece you know you’re going to completely lose yourself in.
I also documented the quieter side of being a working artist too: packing print orders, editing YouTube videos late into the evening, photographing artwork for galleries and trying to carve out little pockets of rest.
And of course, there were the markets. Campfield in particular was such a lovely reminder of why I do this. Meeting people face-to-face, hearing their reactions to the work and watching pieces head off to new homes genuinely gives me so much momentum heading back into the studio the following week.
